Polyethylene foamed cotton is a non-crosslinked closed-cell structure, also known as EPE pearl cotton, which is a new type of environmentally friendly packaging material. It is composed of low-density polyethylene grease through physical foaming to produce numerous independent bubbles. It overcomes the shortcomings of ordinary styrofoam, such as fragility, deformation and poor recovery. It has many advantages such as water and moisture resistance, shock resistance, sound insulation, heat preservation, good plasticity, strong toughness, recycling, environmental protection, strong impact resistance, etc., and also has good chemical resistance. It is an ideal substitute for traditional packaging materials.
The density range of general pearl cotton is 20 ~ 28kg / m³, and the high density is 35kg / m³. The specific density level you need also needs to consult the vendor. Professionals say that the density and quality of pearl cotton have a significant relationship. In general, the higher the density, the better the quality of the product, because the higher the density, the faster it returns to its original state after compression. It also shows that the elastic effect of pearl cotton is better. When it is used to package goods, then it can be guaranteed that it will not be damaged. Authough the EPE pearl cotton with high density has a low softness, it can maintain a certain toughness when it is heavily squeezed. At present, there are many density grades of pearl cotton on the market, mainly depending on the needs to choose the corresponding density.
So how do we know the density of pearl cotton? The following formula is commonly used in the industry to calculate the density of pearl cotton: Pearl cotton density (kg / m³) = weight / volume of pearl cotton (length * width * thickness) For example: pearl cotton is 52 meters long, 1 meter wide, and 0.007 meters thick , Weight 11kg, then, its density is 11 / (52 * 1 * 0.007) = 30.22 kg / m3
However, we often come across some overseas drawings that have similar densities: 2.2PCF, 4.0, or 2.2lb. What does that mean? It's actually very simple, because European and American countries still use their traditional units of measurement, including density. PCF is actually the English abbreviation of Pounds Per Cubic Foot. 2.2PCF is abbreviated as 2.2 pounds in China. In fact, there are cubic feet omitted behind. So how to convert it with domestic density? In fact, you only need to master this formula: 1 pound per cubic foot (lb / ft3) = 16.02 kilograms per cubic meter (kg / m³), then these data conversions will be easily solved.
For example, if the density of the drawing is 2.2, then the density is 2.2 lbs / cubic foot. If you change it to kg / m3, the simple point is to multiply a coefficient of 16.02 to get 35.24, which is about 35 kg / m³. This data represents: materials with a density of 35 kg / m³. Then 4.0 is 64 kg / m³, 6.0 means 96 kg / m³ ... and so on.
